10th Annual Thanksgiving Morning Benefit
We find ourselves counting in tens – decades, anniversaries, and even ratings scales. Taking a countdown from ten to one reverses the whole sequence, and we can see where we started in relationship to where we are, for this is the tenth successful Annual Breast Cancer Initiative Fundraiser (2007). Who would have thought, back in 1998, that the cumulative total raised for breast cancer research and for those who suffer from the illness would be $192,000.00 including $25,000.00 raised in this years event. This sum reflects the awareness and concern that exits in the greater New London community for so threatening an illness. Generous giving on the part of supporting merchants and organizations, and the vigorous participation of 150 who came to the Buckley Gym at the Williams School on Thanksgiving morning indicate the determination to work for a cure for breast cancer. Those survivors who attended the morning program serve as an example of what can be done and the effect that the support of this program has. Your generosity now and in the past makes a direct impact on the lives of those around us.
Your thoughtfulness clearly inspired the enthusiasm of the participants. Such collaboration brings the reality of a cure closer to us. My thanks again for your help in making our benefit a success.
